Playing the long game.

Hi loves,

Tomorrow is determination day, or the point in the year where our New Year’s resolutions start to slip. And now, with the relentless barrage of AI and Ozempic content on my feed, I’m having to remind myself that there is no such thing as an overnight success. While these tools can be incredibly supportive when used wisely, consistent action is the key to reaching your goals. In fact, this skill is essential for sustaining your success long-term in either scenario, and it’s never too late to start.

That doesn’t mean ‘magic’ solutions don’t tempt me; I just know that I’m choosing a different kind of hard. The things I actually want out of life — vitality,  personal growth, connection — are all built in the small, boring choices I make every day. It is a practice that helps shape me into the person I want to be, and skipping ahead might mean missing out on some of this growth. I’m looking for authenticity and alignment in this stage of my life, and that means letting go of what I think I’m supposed to want in favor of what actually makes me feel good. Then, if I choose to get a boost, I’m already on the right trajectory.

I’m not saying you have to do things the ‘hard way’ because it’s morally superior. But there is often a gap between our ambition and our capacity, and steady progress helps narrow the margin. Resources

Dinner | Changing the Game
by Melissa Clark

I have been looking for some inspiration for the daily dinner dilemma, and this book has gotten me out of my rut. It’s full of realistic yet interesting recipes using common ingredients that your kids might even eat!

Tart Cherry Juice

This antioxidant powerhouse also promotes melatonin for better sleep. Take a shot before bed, mix into an evening mocktail or make it into gummies for the whole family.

TRE: Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises

I have been working with an amazing practitioner on nervous system regulation, and TRE is one of the tools she uses. It feels weird at first, but releasing this tension from my body is making space for other things like creativity.
